Gigafactories are gigantic. In the past decade, they have become the preferred way for electric vehicle producers to manufacture batteries benefitting from economies of scale and lower production cost per unit. A less known but equally valid definition is that a gigafactory is capable of producing gigawatt hours per year of battery cells.
